Conducting Masterclass: Mahler and Late-Romantic Repertoire
Late-Romantic conducting technique and interpretation
The Juilliard School New York, NY Graduate conducting students
Led an intensive masterclass for Juilliard’s conducting students, focusing on gesture economy, score preparation, and interpretative approaches to Mahler’s symphonic writing. Students worked with the Juilliard Orchestra on excerpts from Mahler Symphonies Nos. 1, 5, and 9.
The masterclass emphasized the balance between analytical clarity and emotional expression, with particular attention to rehearsal efficiency and communicating interpretative intent through gesture alone.
